Paintball: Improper Use

Paintball guns are just as dangerous as any other type of gun or rifle when used improperly. Paintball markers shoot pellets containing colored paint instead of bullets. But these bullets do hurt. If these guns are handled in the wrong manner, they can injure you for life. Eyes are the easiest to injure when it comes to paintball. If you ever handle a paintball gun, it is important to be very safety cautious when doing so.

Always treat a paintball gun like it is a loaded gun. The muzzle of the gun should always stay pointed downward during handling. It is a horrible experience if you think your gun isn’t loaded and you fire it accidentally in close range to another person or towards yourself. The speed of a paintball gun is equivalent to over 200 miles per hour. Always remember. This speed alone, is enough to put someone’s eye out, literally.

Your gun should have a cap on it if you are not playing. These caps are not just for looks, they were placed on the paintball gun for a purpose. You should always keep this in mind.

Another important factor is keeping your gun’s safety on when not in game play. The safety is protection against firing the gun on accident. This is one less thing to worry about when you know your safety is on. Simple precautions can be the most important factors in gun safety.

If you are cleaning your paintball gun, you should act as if it is loaded. Having eye protection on and making sure the chamber is clear is very important. You should always release any air that may be in your gun as well. After this, then it is safe to clean the gun.

Never have your finger near the trigger unless you are preparing to shoot. If you aren’t in the battlefield with protective clothing on, your finger shouldn’t be anywhere near the trigger at all. Even when you are running across the field, your finger should be no where near the trigger either. If you were to trip and fall on accident, you could unintentionally hit the trigger thus causing injury to yourself or someone else.

Don’t point your paintball gun at anything other than what you are planning on shooting. Don’t play like you are going to shoot someone. This will hurt the other person on opposite end of the gun.

If you aren’t able to keep care of your paintball gun, there are professionals who are specially trained in this field. Each gun has intricate parts inside which have to be taken apart a certain way. There are gun maintenance classes you can take at any paintball organization.

There are no where near as many injuries in the game of paintball when compared to other sports. Most of these insures are a result of safety precautions not being followed. Common sense is best in paintball. Basic gun safety helps, as well.
