Basic Paintbal Tournament Equiptment?
My 2 Friends and I are wanting to start a paintball team and enter a tournament. We all just got guns and i am wondering what all we need to enter a tournament. Do we actually NEED jerseys or could we just all wear similar colored shirts and paints, and do you know of a site or anything where you could get jerseys for CHEAP, not like $50s a pop like other ones, are colors are Red and Black.
I know we’ll need masks, and most tournaments you have to buy your own boxes of paint and how many balls are in one box. And how many boxes of paint are you likely to go through in 1 tourny, could u live with one? and then the pods and straps, do you actually need them?
Me and my friend have a Tippmann 98 custom and my other friend has a Spyder Victor. Are there any upgrades that we should buy, not really expensive ones like the $70 barrels, but like different hoppers or like a double trigger?

If I were you, I would learn the game alot more than you know now. It sounds like your new and you would be playing people who have been playing since they were like 8. Now for your questions:
Jerseys are nice to have but are not required at most tournys. Also they are not 50$ a pop. Think of more in the 100-200$ range.
2000 paintballs per case of paintballs. I’d get Blaze paint. It’s great tourny paint that’s only like 45$. It’s made by like Draxxus. It depends how much you shoot if a case is enough for you. Just get a case and you should be fine if your not pulling the trigger 24/7.
Pods are nice to have since they come in handy all the time.
For a stock tippmann 98 (basic, nothing upgraded), then you shouldn’t need much more upgrades other than a new barrel. Try a Stiffe, CP (Custom Products), or a Freak barrel. They are all about 40$ish. Mabye you can get a new hopper like a Evlution III. They load about 23bps (balls per second) and are only like 50-60$ which is really, really cheap. A double trigger is only really useful on electronic markers (guns) such as Ions, ect…
